Launched in 2011, On Screen/In Person tours new independent American films and their respective filmmakers to communities across the mid-Atlantic region. Organizations in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia interested in serving as host sites are selected by the Foundation on an annual basis through an open, competitive application process. Host sites participate in film selection and each receives six films a year for screening in their communities over two three-month intervals (September-October-November; February-March-April). Visiting filmmakers work with host sites to develop their participation in community activities that provide context and greater appreciation for their respective work and the art of film. Films, including animation, documentaries, experimental and narrative work, are submitted for consideration for the program through an annual nationwide open call for entries.
On Screen/In Person is made possible through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program.
